State lawyers are asking the Supreme Judicial Court on Tuesday to block serial rapist Wayne Chapman’s release from prison.
The Eagle Tribune reports Chapman's victims are joining lawyers for the state in asking the state's highest court to block his release. They believe he is still a danger to the community.
Chapman, 70, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of raping two boys in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1977. He had spent years fighting for his release but court documents show he was found too dangerous each time.
Chapman was convicted in three states and had roughly 50 victims over a span of 10 years. He was also the main suspect in the 1976 disappearance of 10-year-old Andy Puglisi, who went missing after visiting a Lawrence pool.
