Stolen AK-47 Found After Police Chase in Everett, 2 Arrested: Police

Two men were arrested after Everett police engaged in a brief chase and two other men remain at large

Two men were arrested for allegedly leading Massachusetts police on a brief chase that resulted in officers finding a stolen AK-47 from out of the state, and two others are still on the run.

Twenty-nine-year-old Rashad Odom and 19-year-old Angelo Guimares, both Boston residents, face multiple charges, including possesion a large capacity firearm, two counts each of unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.

Everett police say they engaged in a pursuit after a vehicle with no headlights on failed to pull over for officers. During the chase, a gym bag was thrown from the car and was later found by police.

Officials said the bag had an AK-47 rifle that was reported stolen from another state.

The vehicle involved in the chase crashed on lower Broadway, where four men in the car attempted to flee the scene. Two men were caught by authorities and arrested shortly after. The two other men in the vehicle evaded officers and remain at large.

Authorities said they recovered weapons from the suspect car.

The identities of the men who remain at large have not been released.

Odom was ordered to be held without bail during his arraignment Friday morning in Malden District Court; Guimares will face a judge Friday afternoon.

Odom is due back in court on Feb. 13.

The investigation is ongoing.
