Tractor-Trailer Crash Snarls Traffic

It took crews several hours to clear the highway

State police responded to a tractor-trailer crash that halted traffic in both directions for several hours on Interstate 90 in Charlton, Massachusetts.

The truck, which was traveling west, crashed through the median on Wednesday afternoon.

43-year-old Lee Finkley of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was operating the truck. As a result of the crash, 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the ground.

Multiple lanes, on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the highway, were blocked off while crews frantically worked to clear the scene.

The cleanup spanned several hours. Traffic was backed up for 10 miles, according to police.

Finkley was transported to UMass Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation at this time.
