Crews Rush to Clean Up Watertown, Mass. Oil Spill

Crews are working to clean up a large mess Tuesday after a crack in a pipe caused oil to spill in Watertown, Massachusetts.

At approximately 10 p.m. Monday, officials discovered an Eversource pipe with a scratch that caused mineral oil to seep above ground.

The source of the crack was tracked to the area of 245 Main St., according to Watertown police.

As crews work to clean up the area, Watertown Square to Waverly Avenue will be closed until further notice. Officials urge commuters to take Pleasant Street and Summer Street as an alternative.
