Woman Shot When Neighbor Fires Gun Through Apartment Wall in Ayer, Massachusetts

Police say a Massachusetts woman was shot while lying in her own bed when a neighbor fired several rounds through the wall of his apartment and into her unit.

The victim was struck in the ankle around midnight Wednesday in her Ayer apartment and taken to the hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.

Police arrested Treyvon Choate on firearms and assault and battery charges.

Investigators say he fired the gun into his own wall and the bullets went into the adjoining unit.

Police say while they were investigating they were notified by the electronic monitoring service at the Probation Department that Choate had removed a court-ordered tracking bracelet moments after the shooting.

It could not immediately be determined if Choate had a lawyer.
