Woman Threw Hammer at Victim, Sprayed Her With Bleach: Police

A Massachusetts woman who allegedly threw a hammer at another woman and sprayed her with a bottle full of bleach was arrested Wednesday on charges that include attempted murder.

Police in Littleton said they responded to an assault at about 6 p.m. at a home on Green Needles Road, where a woman had been injured by a hammer.

Officials learned the victim visited a cottage in the area when Asia Dotten-Jiles, 22, of Newton, allegedly threatened her and confronted neighbors. The victim later went to have dinner at another nearby home and was approached by the suspect again as she was leaving.

Dotten-Jiles was carrying a hammer and a spray bottle with bleach inside it during their second encounter, authorities said. She allegedly threw the hammer at the woman, hitting her in the head and shoulder. Dotten-Jiles then sprayed her with bleach, according to police.

In retaliation, the victim pepper-sprayed the suspect, causing her to retreat to another home on Green Needles Road. The victim was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Police later found Dotten-Jiles in the house and discovered that she had showered to wash off the pepper spray. She was arrested on charges of attempted murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Dotten-Jiles was held on $25,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Ayer District Court. It is unclear if she has an attorney.
