More Sun, Comfortable Temperatures on Labor Day Sunday

Day two of our holiday weekend looks beautiful. Temperatures along the coast won’t be as warm. We will have an onshore breeze, which will knock temperatures into the low 70s during the afternoon. Day three of the holiday weekend looks unsettled. Showers and thunderstorms will return. The driest parts of New England will be along the coast, so we may pull of another beach day.

Temperatures will gradually warm heading into the middle of the week. Temperatures will warm in the mid 80s by Wednesday. Most of the week after Monday looks quiet. Temperatures will start to pull back by the weekend, especially Sunday. High temperatures Sunday into the following week will barely get to 70°.

Now we turn our attention to Dorian. It’s a major hurricane and will likely stay a strong Category 4 through Tuesday. The storm is crawling to the east at 5-10 mph, but will eventually stall over the Bahamas Monday and Tuesday morning. Devasting impacts will be felt across the northern Bahamas. Some takeaways – much of the Florida coast will see gusty rain bands and pockets of coastal flooding through Tuesday. The coast of North and South Carolina need to be vigilant for a possible landfall. Although the storm should begin weakening, it could still back a punch and the storm surge could be a serious threat. Waves will build here in New England and we can expect dangerous surf going into Friday and next weekend. Stay tuned!
