A motorist has been charged with driving under the influence in a crash that left a passenger seriously injured.
Vermont State Police responded to the crash in Waterford just after midnight on Sunday.
Investigation shows Benjamin Briggs, 23, was travelling east on Simpson Brook Road when he left the roadway and struck a tree. As a result, Justin Stahler, 23, sustained serious bodily injury and was transported to Dartmouth Medical Center.
Briggs was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence. He will appear in Caledonia Superior Court on Oct. 6. Additional charges may be pending.
