New England's Holiday Weekend Forecast

Looks like winter is trying to make a comeback

After two days in the 50s and 60s, which is the warmest air of the year so far, winter tries to make a comeback this weekend.

A wave of low pressure will ride along a cold front that slips through New England late Friday into early Saturday. Initially that will result in a period of steadier rain, but as we go through the wee hours of Saturday, colder air will filter down from the north. With precipitation still falling, that means snow is likely across portions of northern New England. Right now it looks like a few inches of snow will accumulate, especially in the mountains.

Meanwhile, we should stay primarily rain in southern New England. The rain and snow will move out fairly early in the day, leaving us with improving conditions during the afternoon (as long as you don't mind the falling temperatures!).

With the warm-up, some rain, and melting snow, minor flooding is possible along some rivers this weekend, especially in western and northern New England.

Aside from a random rain or snow shower on Sunday, especially in northern New England, most of Easter will be dry with a blend of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s though.

More rain arrives for next week, with the renewed risk of flooding.
