NH Commission to Address Mental Health, Criminal Justice

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu has signed three executive orders to implement parts of the state's new 10-year mental health plan.

The orders signed Tuesday are aimed at improving services for people with mental illness who are accused of crimes, boosting recruitment and retention of mental health workers and better measuring the state's performance in delivering care.

Sununu created two commissions, one to address issues with mental illness the criminal justice system, and a second to bring together existing efforts to address workforce shortages.

The third order requires the Department of Health and Human Services to assess its contracting process and how it reviews health care quality to identify possible redundancies.
