Police in New Hampshire say a 26-year-old inmate who walked away from a transitional housing unit on Wednesday returned later in the evening.
Richard Robert Fortier of Keene left the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester, at 6:45 a.m. to go to work but he never showed up, according to the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. He was placed on walkaway status around 12:30 p.m. He returned just after 5 p.m.
He is described as 5'8" tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has tattoos on his left and right arms.
Fortier was serving a 2 to 4 year sentence for reckless conduct. He was admitted to New Hampshire State Prison on Jan. 10, 2014 and would have been eligible for parole on Oct. 8, 2015.
After his return, Fortier was taken to the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord.
