Police Arrest New Hampshire Man Who Struck, Injured Victim on Pedal Bike

Witnesses identified the driver of the vehicle as Juan Padua

New Hampshire police have arrested the man they say struck a victim on a pedal bike and fled the scene in Laconia on Sunday.

Police responded to the intersection of Court and Fair Streets at 3:38 p.m. where they found the victim.

That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Multiple witnesses identified the driver of the vehicle as Juan Padua, 54, of Laconia. Witnesses were also able to identify Padua's vehicle as a blue 2008 Nissan Altima with New Hampshire plate 350-1091.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Padua for felony conduct after an accident and operating while a habitual offender.

On Tuesday, police said Padua was taken into custody and refused bail. He will be arraigned Wednesday at the Belknap County Superior Court.
