Body of AmeriCorps Member Pulled From River

Police in the town of Cornish say Reed McWilliams was from Bethel, Alaska

Rescuers have recovered the body of a 21-year-old man who drowned in the Connecticut River, an AmeriCorps member who was working at nearby St. Gaudens National Park. 

Police in the town of Cornish say Reed McWilliams was from Bethel, Alaska. He was swimming in the river with a woman on Tuesday when he did not resurface. Police got a 911 call at about 5:50 p.m. off the bank of a farm. 

McWilliams was spotted at about 7:20 p.m. in about 8 to 10 feet of water and was recovered by divers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
