Authorities are investigating a fatal car crash that happened Thursday evening on Interstate 89 in Enfield, New Hampshire.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. when a silver SUV veered to the left and into a grassy median, striking a guardrail. After hitting the guardrail, the car reentered the interstate and came to a rest across both lanes of the road near mile 49.8.
The driver died at the scene and I-89 was closed for some time.
Photos of the scene show the guard rail pierced into the silver car, which sustained major damage to its front.
Authorities had not released the driver's name. It is unclear why the vehicle veered to the left.
Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to contact the New Hampshire State Police Troop D in Concord at 603-223-6195 and ask to speak with Trooper Brandon Rivard.
