Authorities: Man Kills Heating Company Employee Before Shooting Himself

New Hampshire authorities say their investigation shows a homeowner fatally shot a heating oil company employee from behind as the worker was performing an annual tuneup, then went to another part of his home to kill himself.

Attorney General Joseph Foster said Tuesday that the homeowner, Richard Verville, of Londonderry, had used the services of City Fuel in the past for problems with his heating system. Other than that, "there is no evidence of any other interactions or relationship" between him and the worker, Daniel Rabideau.

Foster said instead, the incident from May 24 appears to have been the result of Mr. Verville's "significant mental health issues."

An autopsy shows the 71-year-old Verville died of a single gunshot wound to the head.
