Possibly Tainted Halloween Candy Reported in Dover, Rochester, New Hampshire

One parent told police they believed their child's candy had been injected with detergent

Police are investigating reports of possibly tainted Halloween candy in two neighboring New Hampshire communities.

Police in Dover and Rochester told Seacoastonline.com they received reports from parents saying that candy their children received while trick-or-treating on Wednesday night appeared to have been tampered with.

A Dover parent told police the candy tasted strange and they thought it might have been injected with detergent. And in Rochester, a parent told police they found several pieces of candy that looked like holes had been poked in them.

Rochester police said they had been unable to substantiate the claim. Dover police issued a press release Thursday afternoon saying they were "unable to determine that any candy had been tampered with." They urged anyone with concerns about Halloween candy not to eat the candy and to contact police.
