Prisoner Turns Himself in After Walking Away From New Hampshire Jail

Police say Brendan Bernier had last been seen Thursday near the recycling center in Stewartstown

New Hampshire State Police said Saturday that the prisoner who walked away from the Coos County House of Corrections in Stewartstown on Thursday, has turned himself in.

Police said Brendan Bernier turned himself in on Friday to the police department in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Bernier had last been seen near the recycling center in Stewartstown. Following his disappearance, local, state police and the United States Border Patrol began a search of the area.

Bernier was initially held for driving a motor vehicle after being deemed a habitual offender.

He is being held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility waiting a rendition hearing.
