Police Fatally Shoot Man in Thornton, NH

Authorities have yet to release the name of the officer involved in the shooting

A 37-year-old man is dead after being shot by a police officer in Thornton, New Hampshire Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald said Matthew Freeman was shot by a Thornton police officer at 66 Four Wheel Drive and died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

MacDonald said the identity of the officer who shot Freeman was being withheld until the officer was formally interviewed.

No officers were injured and there was no threat to the public, MacDonald's office said.

Further details of the shooting weren't immediately available.
