A bitter blast of cold air flowing over relatively warm ocean waters is creating bands of ocean effect snow in parts of Southeastern New England.
The heaviest bands of snow, which will briefly produce bursts of snow that coat the roads and create slick spots, are likely from the South Shore down towards the Cape and Islands. Most locations in that area will pick up a dusting-2 inches, but isolated totals of up to 3 or 4 inches are possible as the snow bands are quite localized.

Travel along portions of Route 3, Route 3A, and Route 6 will be particularly slick at times into the evening commute. Reports of crashes are coming into the necn newsroom.
The bands of ocean effect snow will persist into this evening, before tapering off early on Tuesday.
