Authorities: Officer Injured by Prisoner Under Guard at Hospital

Hartford, Conn. Police Officer Dugan was allegedly kicked in the hand by 24-year-old Austin Dukett

Authorities say a Hartford, Connecticut, police officer was injured by a prisoner he was guarding at the hospital early Sunday morning.

Twenty-four-year-old Austin Dukett of Portland, Connecticut, faces several charges, including assault in the second degree and assault on police, after Hartford Police say he tried to make a hospital bed he was handcuffed to flip.

Authorities say Officer Dugan tried to stabilize the bed and was kicked in the right hand and was spit on as he called for another officer with a Taser.

Since Dukett had allegedly assaulted several Hartford police officers at a concert on Saturday night, police say Officer Dugan "did not lose any time."

Dukett is being held on a $500,000 bond.
