Officials Advise Residents to Stay Off the Roads

State officials are asking residents to stay warm at home instead

Roads are a mess from Boston south, and officials are urging motorists to stay off the road tonight.

“Due to less than ideal driving conditions, motorists asked to stay off roadways,” Boston Police tweeted.

“Roads must be clear of vehicles in order for plows to do their jobs,” Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo tweeted. “Please avoid traveling if possible.”

Massachusetts State Trooper Dustin Fitch advised those who must drive to clear their vehicles of snow and ice, tweeting this picture of a windshield destroyed by flying snow and ice on the highway.

Snow emergencies were declared by towns throughout the state.
