Police in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, say a man suffered a head injury after confronting four teens who were moving barriers at the rubble of a restaurant fire.
Sgt. Kuffer Kaltenborn tells the Portsmouth Herald the man was found unconscious on the ground at about 2:50 a.m. Sunday. A witness said he told the teens to leave the barriers alone around the charred remains of the State Street Saloon fire last month. One teen pulled out a knife and the man was beaten.
Fire Chief Steve Achilles said the 49-year-old man eventually regained consciousness and was in stable condition when he was taken to a hospital.
Three teens have been arrested, including a 16-year-old charged with second-degree assault, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, and other charges.
