Boston Man Dies in Braintree Hit-and-Run Crash

The man walked onto the southbound lanes of Interstate 93 southbound when he was fatally struck by a car Tuesday morning, authorities said

A 42-year-old Boston man died after being hit by a car on Interstate 93 southbound Tuesday morning, according to the Massachusetts State Police. The driver drove away.

The fatal hit-and-run crash happened around 4:25 a.m. near Exit 6 in Braintree, authorities said.

The man walked onto the southbound lanes and was struck in the vicinity of the second and third lanes, according to authorities. The car or cars that hit him did not stop.

The victim, identified Wednesday as Thomas Gill, was pronounced dead on scene.

Massachusetts State Police units and Braintree Police are investigating the facts and circumstances of the crash, including why the man was walking on the highway.

Meanwhile, state police are investigating another hit-and-run crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Somerville.

Massachusetts State Troopers are still searching for the vehicle involved in that crash, which happened around 8:50 p.m. Monday on McGrath Highway.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
