Man Believed to Be Homeless Hit, Killed on I-95 in Pawtucket: State Police

Rhode Island State Police identified the victim as 57-year-old Ricardo Masariegos, and said they believed him to be homeless.

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed on a highway in Pawtucket on Saturday night, Rhode Island State Police said.

Officers identified the victim as 57-year-old Ricardo Masariegos, affiliate WJAR-TV reported. Police say they believe Masariegos was homeless.

The crash happened on Interstate-95 south near Exit 27 around 9 p.m., according to WJAR.

Police said Masariegos was crossing the highway when he was hit by a car in the high-speed lane, WJAR reported. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
