An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Woburn, Massachusetts, Thursday night.

Police said they responded to the area of Montvale Avenue and Everett Street around 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian. The victim was located at the scene and taken to the Lahey Clinic, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver did not stay at the scene.

Elmer Coreas, 57, of Woburn, has now been charged with leaving the scene of personal injury and death in connection with the crash, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said Friday.

The victim has been identified as 70-year-old John McGuinness, also of Woburn.

Investigators were able to identify fluids from the driver's vehicle, which they were able to follow back to an apartment building on Montvale Avenue, where they found a maroon Honda Pilot with heavy front end damage.

They were able to locate Coreas, who they said was driving the vehicle, a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing, the district attorney's office said, and Coreas is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Woburn District Court.
