NH Man Arrested for DUI Was Driving on Car's Rims: Police

A caller reported that a car was "all over the road" with sparks shooting from its wheel

A man was arrested for driving under the influence overnight Thursday after officials received a call of a vehicle traveling on its rims at the hands of an erratic driver.

Pelham, New Hampshire resident Michael Medeiros, 37, was arrested shortly after midnight after Pelham police were dispatched to Bridge Street following a report that a car was "all over the road" with sparks shooting from its wheel. The caller also stated that the vehicle previously struck a guard rail.

When Medeiros' vehicle was spotted, officers pulled him over, determined the driver was driving under the influence and tried to arrest him, officials said.

Medeiros refused to comply with officers and resisted arrest, according to Pelham police. After a brief struggle, officers were able to bring Medeiros to the ground and cuff him.

The suspect suffered minor abrasions and refused further medical treatment. He was released to the Hillsborough County House of Corrections in Manchester because he failed to find a sober adult to assume responsibility of him.

Medeiros was charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest, open container and defective equipment.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 13 at Salem District Court. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
