One man was shot and killed and three others were injured early Sunday morning in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Chaos unfolded in the parking lot of Mastlight Apartments at Union Point in South Weymouth just before 3 a.m.
“Last night I woke up. I heard several rounds of gunshots,” said one resident.
“Walked out the back door into the middle of a crime scene,” said another.
Morrissey said Weymouth police received multiple calls around 2:49 a.m. for shots fired and two people down in the parking lot of 30 Patriot Parkway, the site of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
When they arrived at the scene, officers found one man in the parking lot who was in obvious need of immediate medical assistance. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has since been identified as 30-year-old Eric Small, of Cambridge.

Two other men who suffered gunshot wounds and another man experiencing medical issues were also hospitalized. All three are expected to survive, Morrissey said.
"Honestly, we don't have a lot of answers at this time," he said.
Morrissey had said investigators were looking at whether there may have been some sort of an event inside one of the townhouse apartments in the complex that spilled outside into the parking lot. The gunfire followed a party inside one of the townhomes, Morrissey said.
He said multiple shots were fired, but the exact number is still being determined. Investigators are expected to be at the scene throughout the day processing the dwelling and the parking lot area.
It was an extensive crime scene with nearly two dozen crime markers throughout the parking lot, and bullet holes in a bank door across the way.
The Metrolec SWAT team was called in during the critical moments following to search for a suspect. But as of Sunday night, the shooter was still on the loose, and police were still on scene.
Weymouth Police Chief Richard Fuller said there is no danger to the public. He said several people who were at the party are believed to have left the area shortly after the incident, and urged them to contact the police department at 781-335-1212.
"We'd like to hear from them if they saw anything," he said. "Now would be a good time to come speak to us."
A black Jeep with tinted windows was towed from the scene around 5 p.m. Sunday.
Residents of the complex say they’re thankful no one else was caught in the crossfire.
"There's a lot of professionals here. This isn't the sort of place that you expect this to happen," Kevin Jarnot said.
"Very scary and we have a two-year-old who was upstairs asleep at the time," a woman named Whitney said.
“Thinking about bullets flying around when you could be in your bed safe and this is going on,” said Weymouth resident Steve Ciano.
No arrests have been made.
An investigation is ongoing.
