Police: Man With Knife Assaults Officers

Police say Ousman Trawalley, 24, concealed the knife during a pat-down and tried to slip it into his hand

Police in Manchester, New Hampshire, say they have arrested a man accused of waiving a knife at people and assaulting officers who attempted to apprehend him.

The incident happened Wednesday around 1 p.m. in the area of Hanover and Beech Streets.

Police say Ousman Trawalley, 24, concealed the knife during a pat-down and tried to slip it into his hand.

A struggle ensued with police, who were able to wrestle away the knife. Officers were punched and kicked as they arrested him, but no serious injuries were sustained.

Trawalley is facing five counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, violation of bail conditions and three unrelated warrants.

He is due in court on Jan. 9.
