After a standoff at a New Hampshire home, police used a stun gun to subdue a domestic assault suspect Tuesday.
Laconia Police responded to a home on Weirs Boulevard, where a woman had called 911 to report she had been assaulted and was not being allowed to leave. The caller said the man had access to guns and knives.
According to police, who responded before 8 a.m., the victim eventually escaped out a rear window.
Authorities say the suspect wouldn't leave and that the regional SWAT team was called.
Eventually, the suspect, identified as 60-year-old James Cunningham, a resident of the home, agreed to exit. But police say he would not comply and they used the stun gun on him.
Cunningham faces charges of domestic violence simple assault, felony second degree assault, criminal threatening and resisting arrest.
The suspect refused bail and is being held at Belknap County Jail. It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
