130 Exotic Birds Rescued From Connecticut Home

Rhode Island Parrot Rescue says it is providing shelter to more than 130 exotic birds that were rescued from a Connecticut home.

The Warwick-based nonprofit says the birds were discovered in the Weston, Connecticut, home on Thursday.

Authorities responded to the home after receiving reports of a foul odor in the area. Hundreds of snakes, turtles and other reptiles were also found in the home. Authorities say the animals were in deplorable conditions, and many of them were found dead inside their cages.

RIPR is requesting the public's help in getting the birds situated. The organization is requesting donations of towels, sheets and other supplies. More information is available on the organization's website.
