2 Charged in Connection With Body Found in Boat

Police say 70-year-old Fernando Silva's decomposed body was found Aug. 15 in a boat outside Warwick Cove

Two Rhode Island men have been charged in connection with the discovery of a body on a sailboat in Warwick.

Police say 70-year-old Fernando Silva's decomposed body was found Aug. 15 in a boat outside Warwick Cove.

Police say an investigation led them to arrest 40-year-old Richard Baribault and 44-year-old Troy Gunderway. They were arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy.

Prosecutors say the suspects went to rob Silva, also known as "Captain Fredy," on his boat Aug. 2 after he won several hundred dollars playing Keno.

Police say Silva was beaten in the process and died of his injuries.

Both suspects have been held without bail. They're due back in court Sept. 9.
