Two men are dead after both were shot in the head in an apparent murder-suicide in Newport during what police say was a drunken, early morning argument between friends.

The men were found at about 2 a.m. Tuesday at an intersection not far from Bellevue Avenue and the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Police say a 35-year-old man shot his 48-year-old friend, and then apparently turned the gun on himself. They say both men had guns.

Both died at a hospital.
