3 Arrested Following Highway Shooting

Three men were arrested following a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning on I-95 north in Providence, Rhode Island.

State Police responded to a 911-call after the three suspects opened fire on a second car while traveling on I-95. The car the suspects were traveling in crashed moments after by the Route 146 overpass going through Providence.

Providence Police arrested three men, identified as Raul Otero, 22 of Pawtucket, Jovani Velez, 20 of Central Falls and Ramon Escotto, 23, of Providence. The suspects were arrested shortly after the crash at the Marriott Hotel on Orms Street.

All three suspects were arraigned Saturday afternoon on six charges including Assault & Battery-Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Drive By Shooting, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon or Substances when Committing a Crime of Violence, Alteration of Marks of Identification on a Firearm, and Conspiracy.

Velez and Escotto were held on 250,000 bail each. Otero was ordered held without bail.

State Police say the victim traveling in the other car was unharmed after bullets came through high driver's side window.
