4 Men Charged With Killing, Dismembering Rhode Island Man

Four men are facing murder charges in Rhode Island, where a man who disappeared last summer turned up dismembered in waters off Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Thirty-six-year-old Kerry Mello, of Cranston, disappeared on August 10.

Police confirmed in January that Mello was dead, but they provided no details. According to necn affiliate WJAR, the men who were indicted included 35-year-old Jamie Barriera of Warwick, 61-year-old Albert Barriera of Warwick, 36-year-old Francisco Concepcion of Pawtucket and 39-year-old Graig Bustillo of Providence.

During an appearance Thursday in court, Special Assistant Attorney General Tim Healey told the judge that Mello's remains were found in the waters of Westport, Massachusetts, and in Little Compton, Rhode Island, around 10 days after he disappeared.

Healey did not say what the motive was for the killing.

All four men were ordered held without bail pending a hearing on May 5.
