A Providence, Rhode Island, bar will remain closed for the next few days after a violent incident involving shots fired happened there over the weekend.
The Providence Board of Licenses decided Monday that The Fatt Squirrel on Chestnut Street will stay closed until at least Thursday.
The Providence Journal reports the board suspended the bar's license during an emergency session after a violent disturbance spilled into the street around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Police say a 21-year-old patron was assaulted and that shots were fired into one of the bar's windows.
A lawyer representing the company that owns the bar sought permission for the restaurant to stay open.
But the board's lawyer says the license applies to the bar and restaurant. He says splitting it in two would be unprecedented.
