Two people were hospitalized Tuesday night after a car crashed into a home in Warwick, Rhode Island.

Police told WJAR-TV that the crash, which happened around 8:30 p.m., caused the home on Warwick Avenue to come off its foundation.

Anthony Perente said he was inside the home with his mother when the crash occurred.

"I just saw him coming towards me and coming towards me and I don't think he's going to stop and then all of a sudden, it just jolted me out of the chair," Perente told WJAR-TV.

The male driver and Parente's mother were taken to an area hospital for minor injuries, according to police.

Parente said the house was deemed uninhabitable and the car had to stay in place temporarily because it was keeping the structure from collapsing.

"Part of the back tires of the car are actually in the basement. It knocked out the foundation wall, so the car might be supporting the house right now," Perente told WJAR-TV.

Parente added that the insurance company is assessing the damage.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. It's unclear if the driver has been charged in connection with the crash.
