Deadline Nears for Rhode Island Kids' Healthy Recipe Contest

The deadline is nearing for Rhode Island children to enter a contest to create recipes for healthy, affordable dishes.

Gov. Gina Raimondo and her husband, Andy Moffit, are asking children in grades 5 through 8 to enter the RI Kids' Healthy Recipe Challenge.

The deadline is Monday. More than 50 recipes have been submitted so far.

Children should submit the recipe to the governor's office along with a photo or drawing of the dish, and an estimate of how much it costs to prepare.

Winners will be chosen in three categories: starter, entree and dessert. The top dishes will be published in a recipe booklet and served during a special luncheon for the winners with Raimondo and Moffit in January.

State officials and community leaders will judge the recipes.
