Police: Man Allegedly Drove Drunk Doing 100 MPH With Kid in Car

Police say they arrested a Rhode Island man for driving under the influence while going more than 100 mph with a toddler in the backseat.

State police say they pulled over Jarvis Williams, 34, of West Warwick, around 12 a.m. Saturday after receiving multiple reports for a possible drunken driver on Interstate 95 in Richmond.

Police said Williams had a 3-year-old in the car and the child has since been turned over to the custody of his mother.

Williams is facing several charges including DUI and driving with an unrestrained child.

State police say they arrested 50 people over the Memorial Day weekend, including nine for operating under the influence. Of the 52 car crashes reported, none resulted in deaths or serious injuries.
