Man Gets 17 Years for Shooting at Nightclub

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office says 25-year-old Larenta Draper was sentenced Wednesday to 27 years in prison with 17 to serve

A Pawtucket, Rhode Island man who authorities say shot at a Providence nightclub as he was driving away has pleaded guilty to assault and weapons charges.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office says 25-year-old Larenta Draper was sentenced Wednesday to 27 years in prison with 17 to serve.

Prosecutors say Draper fired a gun in the direction of the Aqua Lounge in April after getting into an argument inside the club. They say bullets hit a nearby food truck but no one was injured.

Court documents say city police pursued Draper's vehicle until it crashed on state Route 10. Police say they found the weapon used in the incident in Draper's vehicle.
