Police Use Stun Gun on Suspect

Officers used a stun gun on a man they say struggled with them as they investigated an early-morning car crash in Providence, Rhode Island.

Police in Providence, Rhode Island, say officers used a stun gun on a man who struggled with them as they investigated an early morning car crash.

The Providence Journal reports 28-year-old Baboucarr Saine was charged Sunday with two counts of simple assault on an officer, resisting arrest and driving without a license. It's not immediately known if he has an attorney.

Police said when officers arrived at the accident scene at about 6:35 a.m., two witnesses pointed out Saine as the driver. Police said Saine had a scrape on his forehead but denied he was involved.

A police report said when asked for identification, Saine struck an officer in the chest and ran even after officers used the stun gun. Police said they caught up with him and arrested him after a struggle.
