Prize-Winning Turkey, Piglet Stolen From RI Family Farm

Police in Rhode Island say a pet turkey and piglet have been stolen from a family farm.

Investigators say someone stole the animals from Confreda Farms in Cranston on Monday night. The farm had hosted its Columbus Day weekend fall festival earlier that day.

The Confredas say surveillance cameras show someone driving a farm vehicle after hours. They believe the vehicle was used in the theft and that at least two suspects were involved.

The Confredas say the 17-pound turkey named Julius and young piglet weren't raised for food. Farm president Vincent Confreda says the piglet is still nursing and could die because it's separated from its mother.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Confreda Farms is accepting online donations to raise money for a reward for the return of the missing farm animals. If you would like to help, you may do so here. Be aware that GoFundMe deducts 2.9 percent of any funds raised, plus 30 cents per donation for payment processing charges.
