RI ACLU Sues Pawtucket Police Over Records

The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island is suing the Pawtucket Police Department, arguing they are illegally denying requests for reports on police misconduct.

It's the second time in about a year that the state ACLU has sued the department on claims that the city is improperly denying access to public records under the state's Access to Public Records Act. The Providence Journal reports the suit was filed Monday and the city and the city's police department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The ACLU alleges the department refused to release six reports on "disingenuous" grounds.
