Rhode Island Home Burned to Ground, Bridge Closure Caused Delay

A fire destroyed a two-story Rhode Island home after a closed bridge delayed firefighters from rushing to the scene, WJAR reports.

According to the Chief of the Western Coventry Fire District, it took his crew an extra eight minutes to arrive at the scene Sunday afternoon in Coventry.

When they arrived, "there was absolutely, positively no way to save it," Capt. Robert Mann of the Western Coventry Fire District told WJAR.

There were no injuries.
