Rhode Island Man Arrested After Allegedly Pointing Weapon at Children

Police say a Providence man was arrested on accusations he pointed a weapon at children walking home from school.

Twenty-three-year-old Michael Rosario was arrested Thursday and charged with five counts of felony assault with a device resembling a firearm.

Police say a group of children was walking home Tuesday from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School when a man they later identified as Rosario pointed what looked like a gun at them.

The children, between the ages of 6 and 14, told police that Rosario laughed at them.

He faces an unrelated felony charge in Providence Superior Court of possessing a firearm.

A message left for Rosario's public defender was not immediately returned.

Police have not recovered a weapon.
