RI Man Charged With Sex Assault in Connection to Missing Michigan Girl

A Rhode Island man was arrested Tuesday and faces several sexual assault charges after a missing 15-year-old girl from Michigan was found in the Ocean State.

The Warwick Police Department said 43-year-old Charles Morancey was arrested Tuesday without incident in connection to the Friday disappearance of the girl.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan contacted Warwick officials after an investigation determined the child may be somewhere in town. Warwick authorities conducted surveillance at a home and later found the girl there.

WOOD-TV reports the girl’s father said the suspect met the child on Instagram. The father called Morancey a “professional predator” who was grooming his daughter.

Morancey faces four charges of third-degree sexual assault and one count of fugitive from justice.
