A Roman Catholic priest from Rhode Island police say was driving drunk when he struck and injured a pedestrian was allowed to remain free on $10,000 bond at his arraignment.
The Rev. Jacek Ploch did not enter a plea Thursday when he appeared in court on charges including driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury.
Ploch is pastor at Our Lady of Czenstochowa and St. Vincent de Paul parishes in Coventry. The Diocese of Providence has placed him on administrative leave and he is not allowed to minster as a priest.
The 38-year-old Ploch was arrested July 14 after police say he struck a pedestrian in Warwick. Police say his blood-alcohol content was higher than .15%.
Ploch and his attorney declined comment after court.
