A registered Rhode Island medical marijuana caregiver has been charged with possessing excessive amounts of pot, including butter and lollipops containing the drug.
Thirty-year-old Andrew Giangreco of Smithfield was arrested on marijuana charges Wednesday.
State police say they found 60 marijuana plants, 30 pounds of "usable" marijuana, eight containers of marijuana butter, 167 syringes containing hash oil, 20 lollipops containing THC and assorted drug paraphernalia at two marijuana-growing operations at Giangreco's home and in Central Falls.
Police say active medical marijuana caregiver and patient cards were found at both locations.
State law says a caregiver may possess up to 24 marijuana plants and five ounces of usable marijuana.
Giangreco is being held without bail pending an April 3 bond hearing. His lawyer didn't immediately return a message Thursday.
