Teacher's Aide Accused of Stealing Retired Cop's Puppy

A teacher's aide in North Providence, Rhode Island, is accused of stealing a puppy from a retired cop and peddling it for cash, according to police.

According to necn affiliate WJAR, Gina Pollock, who works at Birchwood Middle School, is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Suspicions were raised when a family who says they received the dog from Pollock noticed a Facebook post from a North Providence saying his puppy was missing.

They said the puppy they received looked exactly the same, but had the collar off. Hours later the puppy was returned to the owner, a retired police officer.

Pollock has been charged with receiving stolen goods and is due in Court Nov. 12.
