Science From Scientists sends charismatic experts into 27 schools in Massachusetts and two in California every other week to teach attention-grabbing science lessons to fourth through eighth graders.
The organization's founder says there is a real need for this program because local schools are focusing more on test-driven English and math lessons and severely cutting down time for science, especially in urban areas.
The program, which serves over 6000 students, has helped participants who once scored poorly on standardized tests move into proficient and advanced scoring areas.
