Severe Thunderstorms Cause Damage Across New England

Severe thunderstorms passed through New England throughout the evening Friday.

Warnings were, at times, in effect in all six New England states. Before midnight, there were still warnings in Barnstable and Bristol counties in Massachusetts; Lamoille, Grand Isle, Chittenden, Orleans, Washington, Essex, Franklin and Caledonia counties in Vermont; Windham County in Connecticut and Bristol, Newport, Kent, Washington and Providence counties in Rhode Island.

The storms left damage —  the National Weather Service reported downed trees and wires across New England. Trees fell on houses in Tolland, Connecticut, and in the Massachusetts communities of Hatfield, Westborough, Stoughton, Easton, Tolland and Plymouth.
